Banners -- The Right Way To Use Them To Drive Your Website Traffic
If you are one of my regular readers you'll notice that I do not certainly favor the use of banners. However, that does not mean that they do not offer an avenue of getting massive traffic if you follow certain steps. I'll try to point you to the steps that will guarantee that you get the most from banners as a traffic strategy...
1) Make sure your banners take your visitors to a high value content page. The main reason why I do not usually advocate the use of banners is that a lot of webmasters use it as a short cut to their products or merchant's. That's wrong! And that's what really renders banners far less effective than they really ought to be. Correct this and you'll see marked improvements.
2) Make sure you put a lot of creativity into your banner design. A 'me too' concept will not cut it. You need to create a banner that people will stop to look at. The more they stop to look at it, the more likely they'll see your message and click through to your site.
Furthermore, if it is a very striking banner, they'll tell their friends who'll tell their friends, you get the picture? That's a viral effect in place. So, take you time or pay some design wiz-kid to do something extraordinary for you. It will be well worth your investment.
3) Place your banners on closely related sites. Google's Adsense is a smashing hit because all their ads are contextually relevant. Try as much as possible to place your banners on sites that attract similar audience to those of your niche. The more a banner is related to a page's theme, the more likely it is for them to click on it. This is simply because they will be of more interest to them.
4) Use banners to boost your link popularity. Take time out to understand this concept and make sure your anchor text will give you that all important link popularity boost. You can get a banner deal on a high PR page a lot more easily than it will be for you to get a free link.
5) Buy a lot of banner space. If you spend just a little you'll not reap the results in this strategy. Like in every website traffic strategy, massive action always produces the best results.
